Event description

Description

Treecycling at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice

After the popularity and success of last year’s tree chipping, we are bringing back our Treecycling event! This year we are expanding and with the support of Nene Valley Tree services will be offering a tree collection service so that you don’t have to worry about a thing after Christmas.

All of the trees we collect will be chipped into mulch which will be used in the Thorpe Hall grounds and donated to local farms, so you can be assured your Christmas Tree isn’t going to landfill.

Each donation for a Christmas Tree collection will go directly to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice to help fund expert medical care and bereavement support services. Christmas can be an incredibly hard time for people who have lost a loved one, so we are very grateful for any donations that can be made.

We are asking for a minimum £10 donation to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, as well as any additional donations you would like to give, and in return, we will collect your Christmas tree from your house as well as ensuring it is recycled safely.

How does it work?

This is the first year that we will be collecting trees from people’s homes. We will be collecting from the following postcodes:

  • PE1
  • PE2
  • PE3
  • PE4
  • PE5
  • PE6
  • PE7
  • PE8

If you do not live at one of the above postcodes, please do not book a collection as we may not be able to come to you. Feel free to give us a call on 01733 225999 and we can advise if we are able to collect your tree.

We are collecting on the Saturday 4th and Saturday 11th January, however we are unable to allocate time slots. Please ensure your tree is outside of your property from 8am on the 4th and 8am on the 11th.

You do not need to be in when we collect, as long as your tree is visible from the road and has the ticket attached, we will collect it.

Please ensure that you download and print the ticket you will receive with your confirmation email, and attach the ticket to your tree. Our collectors will only take trees that have this ticket attached to them.

FAQs

When will my tree be collected?

You can choose to have your tree collected on either Saturday 4th January or Saturday 11th January 2020. Please select your chosen date when booking and make sure your tree is outside your house from 8am on the day.

Where do I leave my tree to be collected?

Please leave your tree outside the front of your house, so that it is visible from the road.

What happens to the tree?

Our partners at Nene Valley Tree Services will chip the trees at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and the mulch will then be used in our grounds as well as on local farms.

Where does my donation go?

All of your donation goes directly to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, ensuring that we can offer our care over the festive period and across the year ahead.

What does Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice do?

Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice offers expert palliative care and symptom management to people with a terminal illness. We have a 20 bed hospice in Peterborough and also run a Hospice at Home service so that people can choose to stay in their own homes.

We offer day services, to people with neurological conditions, allowing them to take part in a huge range of activities that they may not be able to alone, as well as our Family Support team, who help families and individuals who have lost a loved one, through groups and counselling.

Can I drop my tree off at the hospice to be chipped?

Yes! We are still running our drop off service as we did last year. Please do not book your tree through this site and instead just pop along to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, drop your tree off and take your donation to our reception team.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

For questions or queries, please contact Victoria Potter, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, on 01733 225940 or email thorpe.fundraising@sueryder.org.
