The weekend of Saturday the 14th & Sunday the 15th of January 2017, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice’s Christmas Treecycling campaign will be returning to 13 post codes within Birmingham and Solihull.
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is an independent adult hospice providing vital care to people across Birmingham and Sandwell. We care for over 1200 patients a year, as well as providing support to their families and loved ones throughout the patient’s time with us and after. All hospice care is free of charge, but Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice currently needs to raise £8 million a year in order to fund this.
For a minimum donation of £10, local residents can book to have their real Christmas tree collected from their homes by Hospice volunteers and local business supporters, to then be recycled locally. Last year we managed to collect more than 1100 Christmas trees and raised over £15,000 for the hospice – that could run our Day Hospice service for a whole month!
Thanks to the help of our sponsors, Fitzgerald Contractors, who cover our costs, and our volunteers who give their time and vans free of charge, 100% of donations will go to the hospice. Every pound really does count: just £12 could pay for a delicious festive meal for a patient and their loved one at the Hospice on Christmas Day, while our target of £25,000 could allow us to provide “Hospice at Home” end of life care to 12 patients.
This January, Treecycling will cover more of Birmingham than ever before as we now collect in Solihull! Postcodes eligible for the service are: B13, B14, B15, B17, B26, B27, B28, B29, B30, B31, B38, B91 & B92
