Trees Under Attack – the science of keeping trees healthy
Event Information
Description
Recent headlines have reported the growing risk to our trees and forests from pests and diseases like Ash dieback. Although the threats are many, scientists are working with the public, foresters and landowners to understand the biology of tree health and to find ways to manage our forests and trees to keep them resilient. Dr Stephen Cavers from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology near Roslin, will lead this guided walk to explain how scientific tools, from state-of-the-art genome sequencing to mobile phone apps, are being used to fight for our forests.(Please bring appropriate footwear for walking on forest paths)
