Trekkers UK is a community organisation based in Birmingham designed for (though not limited to) Black and other global majority millennials, with the aim to promote wellness and diversity in outdoor spaces. We warmly welcome everyone who supports our mission, regardless of ethnicity, so be sure to tell a friend to tell a friend. Our 2025 initiative focuses on enhancing mental and physical well-being while fostering stronger social connections within and between communities. We encourage you to use our hiking and walking adventures as a safe space to kick it with like-minded people, form new connections, network, take time for yourself when needed, nurture your mental health but most of all have fun outdoors!

Join us for a day filled with breathtaking views, fresh air, and nature adventures. This 15km circular hike is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photography enthusiasts. Explore the stunning landscapes, walk along the picturesque Derwent Edge, and marvel at the beauty of Derwent Dam. Don't forget your camera to capture the amazing scenery and create lasting memories. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a fun day out in nature, this event has something for everyone. Come along and immerse yourself in the beauty of Derwent

📍MEETING LOCATION: Visitors Centre - Upper Derwent carpark, S33 0AQ - This postcode will take you onto the main road how ever look out for signs to the car park. What3Words///satellite.nest.tweezers- This is the exact meeting point in the car park

MEETING TIME GUIDED HIKE ONLY: Registration: 10:00am - We strongly advise you arrive for this time to secure parking and get prepared for the the hike to start. There will be a hike brief before we leave off. Please be on time as we will not be able to wait for late comers!

MEETING TIME TRANSPORT: The minibus will arrive at 07:45 and will be leaving at 8:00am SHARP(Exact meeting location will be shared upon booking). We aim to be back in Birmingham by 6pm

👣DISTANCE: Approx 15 km

🥵DIFFICULTY: HARD - This walk does consist of a variety of elevation and uneven terrains. There are some rocky paths along the way and steep inclines to get to the edge. This hike is about endurance but rewarded with amazing views across the peaks

  • A seat on the minibus leaving from East Birmingham, B35 area at 8:00am SHARP(Exact meeting location will be shared upon booking)
  • As the location is approx 2hr from Birmingham you can leave the driving behind and nap on the way!

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • A moderate level of fitness is required for this walk
  • Hiking Boots or shoes with ankle support with a good grip are highly recommended
  • We advise you to bring any necessary medication which may be needed for any underlying health conditions i.e Asthma pumps.
  • A kit list will be provided upon registration
  • Hiking, like all sports and outdoor activities, has risks that should be considered. Even fully trained and experienced hikers have the risk of injury due to the nature of the activity. Neither the owner, the organisation, the Walk leader or the attendees shall be liable for any accident or injury to any hiker or third party. By registering you are agreeing to the above terms and you are doing so at your own risk and accept responsibility for your safety.
  • Safety in Numbers - This hike has a limited capacity to ensure your safety so once tickets are done...they are done and we will be unable to make exceptions!

What do I need to bring with me?

Good Vibes! Good Energy! Walking boots or comfortable footwear with ankle support Waterproof Jacket - (As we know the weather can be unpredictable!) Extra layers. Water & Snacks -Medication i.e Inhalers

What if it rains?

The rain can't stop the vibes! We will continue to walk. The morning of the event the conditions will be risk assessed and if deemed dangerous we will ensure that all registered attendees are informed the walk is cancelled. This will be announced via our Instagram & Whatsapp group

What if im running late?

We advise you leave out in good timing for all our events to ensure you find parking and are on time to set off at the designated time. Please call or message to let us know you are on the way and may be slightly late. We can not guarantee we can wait for late comers. Is there an age restriction?

Is there parking?

Yes there are 100 + spaces in carpark which extend to the road. Parking will cost £4 all day in the main car park or overflow on the road

Are there toilets en route?

There are toilets at the meeting location. Please ensure you use these prior to the walk start time. There are no other toilets on the route so nature will be your best friend
