Event description

Description

Trent College invites you to the Trent Literacy Conference 2019.

After two successful years, and a wealth of glowing reviews and comments from previous attendees, this is a great opportunity to meet with around a dozen other literacy specialists from schools around the country, share best literacy practice and collect new ideas. Primary and secondary colleagues welcome.

To generate meaningful, relevant discussion, the morning session will take the same form as the last two years. Delegates are requested to prepare a short presentation, only 3 or 4 minutes long, detailing one literacy strategy they have tried at your school. Please bring:

  • Powerpoint slides for inclusion in a master presentation.

  • A description of your school & the literacy issues you encounter.

  • One literacy strategy, idea or resource that you have found particularly successful and which may be of use to others.

  • Any questions that you would like to put to group discussion.

We are pleased to announce that we have Caroline Bentley-Davies as our guest speaker for the afternoon session. More details of the session to follow.

Caroline has been a Local Authority adviser, examiner, Ofsted inspector and accredited SIP. She currently works in schools and colleges across the UK and overseas. She trains and coaches teachers to improve their practice and reach the much sought after ‘Outstanding’ grade. She also runs a range of popular revision sessions with GCSE and A Level pupils and enrichment sessions with Key Stage 2-5 pupils. Her book 'Literacy Across the Curriculum' makes for great reading and is full of ideas that we can all try out in our own classrooms!
