Description

Theological Refreshment in Ministry (TRiM)

This, our annual regional short residential conference, is open to lay and ordained ministers, priests, local pastors, preachers, Readers and LLMs from all of the participating churches in the region.

The conference provides an opportunity to learn and pray together in a relaxed atmosphere away from church duties. Each conference focuses on a particular area of theology. This year David F. Ford OBE will lead on…

Reading, thinking, praying and living the Gospel of John

The Gospel of John has probably been the single most influential text in the history of Christian thought, and is challenging in many ways. As he draws near the end of a sixteen-year period writing a commentary on John, David Ford will lead an exploration of how this Gospel can continue to shape our thought, imagination, prayer and action in the twenty-first century. Key questions include: Who is Jesus? What does he desire? and What does it mean to be sent as Jesus was sent?

David F. Ford OBE is Regius Professor of Divinity Emeritus in the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Selwyn College, and is married to Deborah, an Anglican priest and psychotherapist. He is co-chair of the Rose Castle Foundation and of Faith in Leadership, and a trustee of the National Society. He co-founded the interfaith practice of Scriptural Reasoning, and is currently writing a commentary on the Gospel of John. His books include The Shape of Living, The Drama of Living and Christian Wisdom: Desiring God and Learning in Love.

The cost is £120 and is payable at the time of booking. Places are limited, so please register as soon as possible, and at the latest by 31 August 2019. There will be a waiting list if the spaces are filled, and if places become free, they will be offered to those on the list.
