Trinity ISE - an English language test for the 21st century

Webinar invitation

By 2025 there will be 7-8 million international students globally, up from 4.5 million today (The Economist). This means there is an unprecedented need for secure and robust high-stakes English language tests that universities and visa/immigration services can rely on to evidence English language proficiency.

Tests like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic and Cambridge Advanced & Proficiency are commonly used by institutions to measure competence in English language, but in a sector with such high year-on-year growth there has been a growing demand for contemporary alternatives that meet today’s requirements for institutions such as yours.

In 2015 Trinity College London responded to this need with its revised Integrated Skills in English (ISE), an English language test for real life communication. ISE combines integrated English language assessment with an opportunity to develop transferrable communication skills that students need to succeed in academic study and employment.

In 2015 the UK Home Office announced that only Trinity College London and IELTS were approved to provide Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) purposes.

Along with ISE receiving interest from governments and higher education institutions, growth in candidate numbers and international recognition mean that students are increasingly interested in using their ISE qualifications for study in the USA.

The ISE test is now:

  • Accepted by 95% of UK universities and 100% of Irish universities
  • Available for candidates to take across 60+ countries
  • Offered at more than 3,000 Trinity registered centres
