Trip to Edinburgh & Loch Ness
DAY 1: London to Edinburgh
In the morning we depart for Edinburgh around 8.00 am with the train. The ride will only take us 4, 5 hours up to Scotland. After we have check into our hostel we will meet our local tour guide who will introduce us to the city. We will visit places such as Carlton Hill, Holyrood Palace, The Scottish Parliament, The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. The walking tour will last for about 2 hours. Get your cameras ready.
Join the group for a meet & greet evening and enjoy a typical Scottish dinner in one of the local pubs. (excl.)
For those who are interested in a little hike, you can join your group leader on a walk up Arthur's seat. The hill rises above the city to a height of 250.5 m (822 ft), provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is relatively easy to climb, and is popular for hillwalking.
In the evening we have different options to choose from, either we stick together as a group or you can wonder off and do your own thing. We will discuss this on the day.
DAY 2: Edinburgh to Loch Ness
Today we'll explore the Highlands and Visit Scotland’s Legendary Loch.
The tour to Loch Ness starts at 8.00 am, visiting a diverse range of classic Highland scenery including various ‘must see’ sights and the chance to go monster hunting on Loch Ness! Other highlights include dramatic Glencoe, Kilmahog, Glen Coe, the Wallace Monument and you will be standing triumphant on the summit of Abbey Craig and discover the real Braveheart story via your audio-guide.
*Additional costs for the cruise: £14.
More info about the Loch Ness Cruise
A cruise on the mysterious and beautiful Loch Ness is an unforgettable experience, offering you the chance to catch a glimpse of Nessie. The boat uses the very latest hi-tech colour sonar and underwater imaging systems to enhance the hunt. You can also relax with a coffee or beer in the onboard bar.
Cruise duration is approximately 1 hour. If you wish to catch the cruise, I have arranged a special price for you.
We'll enjoy a local lunch in Fort Augustus or take your lunch on the boat or enjoy a picnic by the canal or banks of Loch Ness. There are some great local cafés around should you decide not to go on the cruise.
Our return journey takes us past shimmering Loch Laggan before climbing over the wild and lonely Drumochter Pass. Heading south, we enter Perthshire, a land of forests, rivers and mountains. We view the spectacular Forth Bridges before arriving back in Edinburgh at roughly 8pm.
DAY 3: EDINBURGH TO LONDON
After we enjoyed a continental breakfast, we will check out of the hostel and visit a local whiskey distillery. We will visit a picturesque distillery and experience a real taste of Scotland.
Alternatively you have the option to catch a train to Glasgow and visit the city for the day!
