Description

Join us for an evening in the True to Life exhibition with a talk, refreshments and Object in Focus discussion responding to elements of the 1920s and 30s fashions represented in the works on display.

Professor Amy de la Haye, London College of Fashion/ UAL will speak about featured artist Gluck (Hannah Gluckstein) who dressed like man and compare it to elite fashion in the 1920s and '30s and what was happening in the British fashion industry. Join us also for Object in Focus: Schiaparelli’s Hats, with Georgina Ripley and Lisa Mason, National Museum of Scotland who will bring a key piece of 1930s style from the NMS collection. The Schiaparelli hat belonged to American-born Frances Farquharson, a former Fashion Editor for Vogue and Harpers Bazaar who married the chief of Clan Farquharson, Captain Alwyne Farquharson MC, the 16th Laird of Invercauld and lived for many years in Deeside at Braemar Castle and Invercauld Castle.
