We live in a VUCA World (Volatile, Unpredictable, Complex and Ambiguous) and it's #Tru that nowhere is change happening faster than in the World of attracting talent, so are you up to speed with what's happening now and are you ready for what's around the corner?

#Tru events take place all over the World and are aimed at In-House Recruiters/Internal Talent Teams, Agency Recruiters, HR Professionals, Social Media Consultants, Directors & Hiring Managers, Recruitment Software Companies and anyone with an interest in the latest recruitment industry trends, technology and legislation.

So what is an Un-conference I hear you ask?

Well, if a conference is a line-up of speakers who stand at a podium with a powerpoint presentation, talk for 45 mins, then move on to the next speaker, then an un-conference is the complete opposite! First of all, there are no speakers, no presentations, no podiums and no being stuck in your seat for 3/4 of an hour listening to someone who just isn’t entertaining or relevant. Instead we have Tracks led by Track Leaders - top people who are experts in their field who we have invited to lead and facilitate a conversation around their chosen topic.

What can I learn from attending a #Tru Unconference?

If finding more candidates, attracting talent, staying compliant with ever changing legislation, building a better careers site, turning online networking into offline business, building your recruiter profile, applying best practice techniques into the recruitment mix, making sense of social recruiting, learning how the big companies and the small companies do it really well, or perhaps just realising that the challenges you face are the same ones faced by recruiters the World over are important to you, then these are just some of the topics you will find covered in an Un-conference.

So how do these Track things work?

Tracks are 5 or 6 open-forum and shared learning discussions around a recruitment-related topic with each track lasting 45 minutes and running concurrently with 2 other tracks throughout the day. Delegates will typically congregate around a Track Leader who will spend the first 6 or 7 minutes opening the discussion and setting the direction for the Track - then for the remainder of the Track anyone can contribute, offer an opinion, ask questions, or tell a story etc. The key is to take part in the conversation, but it's all very informal. If at any point during a track you decide you'd get more from of the other ones - just get up and wander over, or maybe grab a coffee off-line with someone you want to connect with.

So is it all just a bit chaotic then?

Not at all. The Track Leaders moderate and facilitate the discussion within their allocated time slot and each new Track session is announced as the previous ones are being wrapped up. All we ask is that everyone is respectful of other people’s opinions and to respect that debate drives innovation and ideas.

Will there be opportunities to network with Track Leaders and other participants?

Absolutely! You know the bit at other conferences where you chat to people over coffee between speakers and grab a drink with them at the end of the day? That’s what it’s going to be like for the whole day and there'll be a full bar serving drinks (not free ones unfortunately) over lunch and at the end of the day.
