Event description
Supporting trustees/board members to understand their legal responsibilities as the governing board of their organisation.

About this event

Understanding your role and responsibilities as a trustee/board member is crucial to both the ongoing success of your organisation and to protect yourself legally.

This training is aimed at new trustees of Scottish registered charities as part of their induction training to the role, and existing trustees who need to refresh their understanding of charity governance or those who have not before received similar training.

The training will also be of value to non-charity directors/management committees and will benefit people with other positions of responsibility in third sector organisations who are generally interested in understanding fundamental governance principles.

After this course you will understand:

- The contents and importance of The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector

- The basic elements of the most common legal structures used by third sector organisations

- The core duties and legal responsibilities of all trustees (Scottish charities)

- The core duties of the office bearers (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary).
