About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

If you've ever fancied having a go with an e bike and would like to try one in a small supportive group (maximum 6), then why not join Preston pedals for this free event funded by Lancashire County Council. We will use Preston Pedals' city e-bikes and the ride will be led by a qualified (British Cycling) cycle leader.

Please be early as the ride starts at 12 noon from The Mobility Centre in the city centre near St Georges Shopping Centre. Full instructions on how to operate the e bike will be provided before we head off on mainly cycle paths and quiet roads through the park and Preston's cycling infrastructure. This will be an easy going ride of approximately 10-12 miles, with a refreshment break.

You will need to bring 2 forms of ID with you which will be copied before you can use the e bike. We have helmets but you're welcome to bring yours if you prefer.

This ride is for people who can cycle and are curious about riding an e-bike.

Places are strictly limited to 6 and booking is first come first served. Please cancel your place and let us know if you change your mind.

This event is FREE due to funding from Lancashire County Council, but this place is worth £30 and if you book and don’t show it takes a place away from somebody else!

Organised by

We are a not-for-profit, co-operatively run cycle organisation in Preston that enables Preston communities to access and get on their bikes, and reduce waste by re-using and recycling bikes that otherwise might end up in landfill.

Our vision - Preston as a place where everyone in the community benefits from more people cycling, where everyone can experience the benefits of owning, maintaining and riding their own bike.

Aims -To actively break down barriers to cycling and promote the benefits of cycling, especially of cycling those short everyday journeys, to as many people as we can.

Ethos - At Preston Pedals we believe that more people cycling is better for our health and wellbeing as well as our environment.

We bring people together to improve access to cycling. Our friendly and welcoming bike mechanics and ride leaders refurbish bicycles; fix and show people how to repair their bicycles and we organise social led rides. In summary:

1. Refurbish used bikes - we refurbish second hand bikes donated from the public giving them a new lease of life and saving them from going to landfill.

2. Bike repair and maintenance - we work in communities to support everyone who wants to learn how to repair and maintain their bicycle, upskilling and educating them to increase confidence in looking after bikes.

3. Support to ride – we help to build the confidence of cyclists, especially newbie and less experienced cyclists through social led rides that are fun!

4. Develop a cycling culture - growing a community who cycle, and a culture of everyday cycling in Preston for proven benefits for health, wellbeing and improving our environment.

We have been kindly supported by grants from the National Lottery Community Fund, Preston City Council, Cycling UK Big Bike Revival, Preston Co-operative Development Network (PCDN), and Lancashire County Council Active Travel Team.

Bike donations always gratefully received!
