With a summer of sailing behind us... from Rio 2016 to the America's Cup World Series and more, there is no better time to get afloat for the first time or to get back into the sport!
High School Students capable of swimmimg 50 yards without a lifejacket are invited to learn to sail and represent your high school around the state and nationally in competitive sailing. No prior sailing experience required! Affordable way to be a part of a competitive sport, build positive social interactions and team building skills, while having fun and being active outdoors!
Our US Sailing certified instructors will be running "Bring A Friend" sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays begining October 5 from 2:30 pm to 6pm. High school students and their friends should bring closed toe water shoes and a U.S.Coast Guard Approved PFD in order to participate on the water. The weekly practice program will utilize a fleet of 10 collegiate 420's, Lessons will consist of lectures, land and on-the-water drills, boat handling technique, boatspeed, and racing strategy. This will be combined with information on what it takes to reach your goals in sailing. Once assigned to a team it is recommended sailors attend full practice, every practice. Conditions can be anywhere from idyllic fair weather sailing to big-breeze cold and rainy.
