Event description

Description

A night of live electronic folk, looping and hip-hop with Yoko Pwno, The Honey Farm and Hollerin' Franklin.

Edinburgh based Yoko Pwno present an exciting new take on the music of their native Scotland.

Fronted by the twin fiddles of whisky-drenched folk maestro Lewis and classically trained RCS graduate Lissa, their playing has developed to mix traditional Scottish styles with wails, screeches and effect-laden soundscapes reminiscent of dub reggae.

At the back of the stage, drummer Ali and producer Calum are equally at home referencing contemporary acts like Disclosure and Red Snapper as they are Scottish artists like Martyn Bennett and Shooglenifty.

Their latest EP was released in July 2017, and is available via Spotify.

You can download their first EP for free from yokopwno.bandcamp.com

The Honey Farm
Touted as “some of the most exciting new voices in Scottish rap” and “ones to watch out for in 2018” by The List, The Honey Farm rear free-range, farm-fresh, bass-laden hip hop direct from the East Coast (of Scotland). Since 2016, MCs Bitta DisGrace, Pimpses hAsha and SweetHardt Dowt have been melting faces all over the floor of the Scottish music scene with their big beats, sassy rhymes and good vibes.

The Edinburgh-based Honey Farm formed in spring 2016, after growing up together in the sticks around East Lothian. They have since packed out tents and stages across Scotland, from Kelburn Garden Party, Audio Soup and Grrrl Crush to BBC The Social’s Rappers VS Poets in August 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rvTN9_HREo

The Honey Farm will be releasing a highly anticipated debut, along with several video singles including the recently filmed ‘Lads’ – a dragged-up pussy-grabs-back takedown of laddish, bull-shit behaviour.

Hollerin' Franklin is a one-man band. A beatboxing, bass playing, looping rapper.

With a name like a blues musician and a style honed in ska-punk bands New Urban Frontier and The Diasporadics; he raps about a range of topics from the abstract to the political while also building his beats live through a mix of beatbox, bass and other instruments.
