Tub Talks: Blaze your own trail
Mon 4 April 2016, 18:30 – 21:00 BST
This month we're stepping away from the obvious start-up talk and focusing on what it takes to live the life you love.
Sometimes the very act of starting or joining a business is that first step. Being an entrepreneur means being bold, facing challenges head on. But how far do you go in stretching yourself to the limit? Really reaching beyond your comfort zone?
We’d like you to meet Sophie.
Born and bred Londoner Sophie Radcliffe (@challengesophie) was your average commuting twenty something who quit her 9-to-5 career to join one of our start-ups in East Tub. When that path didn’t run smoothly the opportunity to move to Chamonix and indulge a growing passion for the outdoor life was irresistible. Driven by her philosophy "One day I will not be able to do this, today is not that day", she pursued her passions and reinvented herself as an endurance athlete, adventurer and award winning blogger. In so doing she has discovered a new life, empowered by an extraordinary commitment to focusing on the possible, not the negatives.
Sophie is the only person in history to have climbed the highest mountains in the eight Alpine countries and cycled between them, climbing five times the height of Mount Everest in 32 days. She’s cycled 300km from London to Paris in 24 hours on nine occasions, completed multi-sport adventure races around the world, raced her bike coast to coast across the USA, completed 100km ultra-marathons, and is a two-time Ironman finisher.
The opportunities that have arisen as a result of taking risks, putting herself out there and going after her dreams, are beyond her wildest imaginations. A believer in blazing our own paths in life, her mission is to champion ordinary people achieving extraordinary things.
Join us to be inspired!
