Tube Sarong is Malaysia’s iconic Merdeka Day cultural movement — where participants don the sarong or batik and ride public transport together, celebrating unity in diversity.
In 2025, in conjunction with Malaysia Day, the spirit of Tube Sarong will arrive in London! Organised by the United Kingdom & Eire Council of Malaysian Students (UKEC) with the official authorisation of Anak Rantau, Tube Sarong London 2025 will bring Malaysians, friends of Malaysia, and the international community together for a vibrant cultural showcase.
Event Highlights 🚆🎶
- Sarong Journey: Gather at King’s Cross Station and travel by Tube to Battersea Power Station together in traditional attire.
- Grand Flash Mob: A choreographed cultural performance at Malaysia Square accompanied by Malaysian music and heritage.
- Photo Session: Capture the moment with fellow Malaysians and friends of Malaysia.
- Community Spirit: Celebrate Merdeka abroad, network, and share our culture proudly in the heart of London.
What to Wear
👘 Sarong, Batik, or any Malaysian traditional wear (be creative & colourful!).

- Participants attend at their own risk. UKEC does not provide insurance (health, travel, or belongings).
- Please dress appropriately for weather and ensure personal safety on public transport.
- Marshals will guide participants throughout the journey.
- Photography and videography will be conducted.
