HERE ARE THE RULES PLEASE READ
The Eventbrite booking system will remain in place and you will still need to book on a ride and not just turn up and expect to join a club ride.
Group rides are a great if you follow some of basic rules:
1. Follow the highway code
2. Ride in pairs unless told otherwise
3. Keep a maximum of a bike length between you and the person in front
4. Do not brake unless you must, or speed surge, peddle consistently
5. Use hand signals “explain” Pointing to potholes, out right, slowing, turning
6. If you hear a shout from behind or in front repeat it so the message is heard by everyone.
7. If you have a mechanical shout Mechanical and the whole group will stop and wait
8. Be courteous to your fellow cyclist and other road users
9. The shout Car Up means there is a car behind us, Car Down means there is a car coming towards the group, relay this message to the rest of the riders, this may be followed by “single file”. Carefully move out of pairs into single file, look behind you before making a move
10. At junctions and hills, don’t speed off make sure the group remains together by slowing down until we are all back together.
11. The lead pair will set the pace, if you pass these then you are on your own, unless you are taking a turn at the front, if so maintain the group speed.
12) Please follow the instructions given by your designated group ride leader.
