ABOUT
What are the implications of meditation reducing violence?
Twenty peer reviewed studies and 50 demonstrations have found that meditation reduced war fatalities, crime and other negative trends in society. In this Tuesday Talk Barry Spivack will give good reasons why this is more than simply a statistical correlation but rather a case of cause and effect.
How can this phenomenon be explained? Barry will suggest that it can only be understood by modifying the conventional scientific understanding of consciousness which is that consciousness is an emergent property and has no causal efficacy in and of itself. Rather this evidence supports the idea of consciousness as a field spread out in space and time. More details of this research can be found in the book Barry co-authored with Dr Patricia Saunders, An Antidote to Violence: Evaluating the Evidence.
Join us at 7:30 PM BST via ZOOM. The Tuesday Talk will last for around 45 minutes and is followed by a live Q&A.
