ABOUT
The Paranormal World of Robert Burns
Robert Burns was born on 25th January 1759, and he is still much loved 262 years later as Scotland’s National Bard. Yet there is a darker side to him, such as his fascination with superstitious practices and the occult. What did he really believe about God and the Devil behind his humorous poetry and songs? Did he write from his own personal experience? And is he still around – has his ghost been seen? If so, what is he saying?
• If you like his poetry, you’ll find the backstory of some famous poems spookily interesting and enjoy a phantasmagoria of horror and mystery: a world of ghosts, fairies, elves, witches, spells, goblins, kelpies, divination and enchantment.
• If you like history, you’ll appreciate the social, religious and intellectual settings for his formative beliefs, his working life, love life and beliefs, with opinions revealed in his personal correspondence_ even his friends’ ‘ghost buster’ investigation will be disclosed.
• If you like paranormality, you will learn about investigations carried out in recent years at significant locations and what mediumship and psychometry might contribute to our understanding of Burns.
What matters most is – what wisdom can we glean from him nowadays? Nick Kyle will share his extensive research with you.
Join us at 7:30 PM BST via ZOOM. The Tuesday Talk will last for around 45 minutes and is followed by a live Q&A.
About Nick Kyle
Former President of the Scottish Society for Psychical Research
Nick is a retired Depute Headteacher (Secondary), now working part-time as a Teaching Specialist in the university sector.
Nick has been psychically aware since early childhood. Trying to understand his ‘spirit’ communications, he began to explore religion, including shamanism and spiritualism, as a young man.
Impressed by the late Professor Archie Roy, Nick expanded his interests to include psychical research, and for over ten years he was President of the Scottish Society for Psychical Research. He has investigated ostensible cases of paranormality over three decades, counselling people who are upset by their anomalous experiences_ confidentially, free of charge and without publicity_ studying mediums, experiencing hauntings and developing a special interest in physical mediumship.
