About this event

We’ll visit Tullibody Community Garden to hear about their work in the community and how volunteers drive what they do.

We’ll learn what volunteers bring to - and what they get out of - the garden, the range of activities that have been delivered there and we’ll learn about ways they engage, organise and work with their community of volunteers for shared positive outcomes.

This site visit is for Falkirk residents growing food in community spaces, whether new or well established, as well as for those with plans to start a garden and to grow food together with their community in the future.

It will be of particular interest to anyone thinking about how to:

  • Recruit, engage, train and mentor volunteers
  • Fund outreach or community education projects
  • Help pollinator and nature corridors
  • Start cooking classes, or a plant sale stall
  • Reduce social isolation and support mental and physical health

Lunch is included.

We’ll meet at the gate before being taken on a tour of the space. Our host will share learnings from past and present activity and the challenges they’ve overcome. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and chat more informally and to connect with others over a vegetarian buffet lunch.

Organised by

Forth Environment Link (FEL) began as the Kippen Nature Club in 1989 with the aim of teaching children about biodiversity and nature. In response to community need and interest, the organisation grew in both mandate and geography, expanding to include adult education and demonstration projects. In 2005 the organisation reconstituted as Forth Environment Link - a company limited by guarantee with charitable status, serving three local authority areas – Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk. In 2008 Forth Valley Food Links merged with FEL, bringing an additional focus on sustainable local food production and consumption. In 2012 FEL took over the hosting of Cycle Stirling bringing a new cycling focus to our work. In 2013, Stirling Cycle Hub started operating from Stirling Train Station enhancing FEL’s cycling provision. Now in 2019 FEL works under 4 main themes: Active Travel, Food & Growing, Circular Economy and Volunteering.
