TUNE WRITING WORKSHOP WITH ADAM SUTHERLAND

Join one of Scotland's finest composers as he shares some of his top tips. In an absorbing and illuminating 90 minutes you’ll learn about how looking at an existing melody can inspire and inform your own tune writing .

Adam will focus on "250 to Vigo" one of the late, great Angus R. Grant's finest melodies and a Shooglenifty classic. He will explore what makes it so beautiful and so brilliant, with the ultimate aim of improving or even kickstarting your own compositional skills.

The workshop will be participatory, relaxed and conversational, with thoughts and feelings most welcome from all.

It is open to everyone, even if you have never written a note of anything or even played before.

The Soundhouse Organisation is a Scottish Charitable Organisation. We are currently raising money to provide a live music venue and musicians centre in Edinburgh and are looking for a permanent home.

In the meantime we are promoting regular gigs in Edinburgh at The Traverse Theatre Bar and hosting Edinburgh Tradfest.
