Event description
The course explores how the transition to adulthood changes access to economic and social rights for young separated people.

About this Event

Refugee Council is the leading UK charity supporting both young people and professionals on the issue of age assessments. Our CPD-accredited one-day course, Age Assessing Separated Children and Young People, is designed and delivered by experienced practitioners with extensive up-to-date working knowledge and practical experience of this subject matter.

Course suitability

Professionals working with, and those who have responsibility towards, unaccompanied or separated young people (e.g. foster carers)

Course Overview

Transition to adulthood can be a stressful time for separated young people. The change of their legal status can have a substantial impact on their rights and entitlements, and they often fear to be removed from the UK. It is therefore particularly important that professionals are well equipped to support young people throughout the process. This course will provide participants with a clear understanding of what kind of support separated young people are entitled as they turn 18.
