TURNING DATA INTO DESIGN

As partner to London Design Festival, Arup is holding an evening event in collaboration with LSE Cities at the London School of Economics around the power of turning data into design to shape better cities.

The event, which explores the role of design and digital innovation on data, takes place during the London Design Festival week on Tuesday 18 September between 17:30 - 19:30, and is based around the 'Conflicts of an Urban Age' exhibition held in Arup's phase2 gallery space in Fitzrovia District.

Event format

  • Tour of 'Conflicts of an Urban Age' exhibition: Using design to have a conversation about data (Peter Griffiths, LSE Cities)

  • Resource Urbanisms: Applying data to investigate divergent city models (Alexandra Gomes, LSE Cities)

  • Human-centred design: Using qualitative and real time data to inform urban design strategies (Zung Nguyen Vu and Camilla Andersen, Digital Studio, Arup)

  • Q&A and open discussion

Throughout the evening, attendees and presenters will be encouraged to have an open discussion on the role of turning data into design.

This is a free event but places are limited so you must be registered to attend.

The Urban Age project

For 15 years the Urban Age project, based at LSE Cities, has investigated the future of cities. This has required the development of comparative visualisation techniques to analyse the performance of cities from across the world. Data availably is often limited and frequently inconsistent. This event connects the backstory of data to the design you see all around you.
