Turning Points: Your Story, Your Voice - Theatre-Making with Yolanda Mercy
Thu 27 October 2016, 18:00 – 19:30 BST
Join actor and playwright Yolanda Mercy for a theatre making workshop exploring past events that inspired a whole generation of poets, writers, storytellers and actors.
What are the events shaping creatives today? How will the creative world respond to #BlackLivesMatter or #Brexit? Are we at a turning point in history? What happens next?
Taking inspiration from Hackney Museum’s new exhibition People Power: Black British Art and Activism in Hackney, explore and develop ideas and learn practical tips about how to turn your idea into a fully funded show.
Yolanda Mercy is a critically acclaimed actor and playwright who is currently touring nationally her 4* show On The Edge of Me. From Spring 2017, Yolanda will be premiering her highly anticipated second show Totally Underprepared which is being made with the support of OvalHouse Theatre, Third Angel and Arc Stockton.
Hackney Museum is a community history museum in the heart of Hackney that explores the history of migration to the Borough over 1500 years.
