Canvas Turnitin training

Turnitin is the text-matching software currently subscribed to by the University of Wolverhampton.

The University uses Turnitin for summative assessment (plagiarism detection), and for teaching students about plagiarism (formative uses aimed to prevent plagiarism) as outlined in the Policy on Maintaining Academic Integrity (June 2015)

This session is designed to help academic staff prepare and use Turnitin in their Canvas course.

You will work through the functionality of Turnitin within the context of both formative and summative assessment.

Colleagues from the Conduct and Appeals unit will provide advice and guidance on how to interpret the Turnitin originality reports.

The session includes:

  • Best practices for using formative Turnitin
  • How to set up and publish a formative Turnitin assessment
  • How to set up and publish a summative Turnitin assessment
  • How to read and interpret the Turnitin originality report

Staff must have some basic understanding of using Canvas before attending this training. It is recommended that staff complete/participated Canvas Quick Start, Blank Canvas (F2F and Online training) or the Blank Canvas Video.
