Turtle Doves in the Brecks Talk
Overview
Turtle Doves were once the UK’s fastest declining bird species and are listed as vulnerable on a global scale. A vibrant, dainty species of dove with a charismatic turr-turring call from which its name derives, numbers in the UK plummeted by an estimated 99% between their peak in the late 1960s and 2023.
There are currently around 2,000 breeding pairs in the UK and some can be found in the Norfolk and Suffolk Brecks.
Join Matt Horsham, Community Project Officer for the Brecks' Operation Turtle Dove, to find out more about this bird in the Brecks, the work being done to try to protect and support it, and how you can get involved.
