Over the past few months, UCU Edinburgh’s anti-casualisation and PG/PD teams have been working on developing different resources for Guaranteed Hours staff, many of whom are tutors and demonstrators. This has included a Know Your Rights information sheet, as well as UCUE’s Tutor Rights Training which we ran online in October and November.

Our goal now is to roll out the series at School level, by ensuring each School has a GH tutor/demonstrator equipped to run the series, alongside a Local Contact where possible. To achieve this, we are running a ‘Train-the-Trainer’ session, so if you want to get tutors in your School or Subject Area organised, this session will be perfect for you. We already have sign-ups from HCA, LLC, Business, and SPS, but we need to build a university-wide presence of organised tutors and demonstrators. This training will give you an overview of the Tutor Rights series, allowing you to tailor it to your School-specific needs, and will provide you with all slides, outlines and template materials. It’s then up to you to set a date to run the training in your School or Subject Area.
