About this event

Over this two-day weekend course you’ll explore how you can use drawing to tap into the energetic qualities of the pose, gaining a better understanding of how form and weight express themselves in the figure and becoming more confident in making energetic, gestural drawings. The course is suitable for anybody with some drawing experience, from beginners who have attended life drawing classes and would like to develop their skills, to experienced artists looking to explore new ways of working.

What to Expect

Day 1: We’ll explore gesture in life drawing, working from an unclothed model who will adopt a series of short and moving poses.

Day 2: We’ll explore ideas of form and weight, using mark-making to describe the volume of the body without relying on tonal value alone.

What to Bring

All materials will be supplied; you may wish to bring a sketchbook for taking notes, and elastic bands or a folder for taking rolled drawings home. Signed copies of Jake’s book ‘Figure Drawing’ will be available to buy on the day.
