
TVSCN Perinatal Network :Training in Perinatal Mental Health events
Description
The Thames Valley SCN is very pleased to announce a series of training days in perinatal mental health that it will be running across Thames Valley. This is aimed at all clinicians in the Thames Valley working with women suffering with mental illnesses during the perinatal period, especially:
* Mental Health clinicians in adult and children & adolescent services
* Midwives
* Obstetricians
* Health visitors
* GPs
It is based on the Health Education England competency framework for perinatal mental health and the training will be delivered by Thames Valley Perinatal Mental Health specialists and will retain a strong local emphasis.
Topics will include:
* Assessing and managing perinatal mental illness
* Communication skills in working with women and families during the perinatal period
* Parent-infant attachment
* Integrated care pathways and multi-agency working
* There will be workshops tailored for specific professional groups, including medication prescribing and safeguarding
