A series where artists talk about their chosen topic in relationship to their work.

Each talk is followed by questions and discussion.

Programme for the day:

10:00 am Arrive, coffee, tea, looking at artwork on display

10:30 am Introduction: Twentysevenb Studio – who we are and what we do.

11:00 am Talk 1: Stewart Kelly: Face to Face with Stewart Kelly: 20 Years of Thinking,

Making & Communicating Ideas.

11:30 am Short break. Cheese and bread.

12:00 pm Talk 2: Victoria Haire: Surface Sounds: Developing interactive silk and silver

textiles which can emanate their amplified sounds.

12:30 pm Talk 3: Jacki Clark: Drawing with light. Creating artwork in virtual reality using

sensors and a headset.

Stewart Kelly

Stewart gained a BA (Hons) in Fashion & Textiles Design from Liverpool John Moores University specialising in textile art and design. Following this, Stewart received an Arts & Humanities Research Board Postgraduate Award to study for an MA in Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in fine art textiles.

Over the last 20 years, Stewart has established a profile as an international exhibiting artist. He has shown his work in exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Europe, USA, Canada and China.

Victoria Haire

Victoria trained as a woven textile designer in the early 1980’s and then spent 10 years working as a freelance designer of woven furnishing fabrics. She has also taught textile design at De Montfort and Leeds Universities, as well as Central School of Art (London). She is currently undertaking a practice-based PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Jackie Clark

Jackie is a multidisciplinary fine artist who gained her postgraduate experience in Art and IT. She has continued to use digital means in her artwork to inform and extend her visual ideas. She will be demonstrating the use of TiltBrush as an exciting new medium. creating drawings in a virtual reality world.
