Event description

Description

Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership are delighted to be supporting Tyne and Wear Heritage Forum's conference by offering this fringe event to compliment TWHF's Heritage Trails conference.

This event starts by meeting TVCRP staff at Newcastle Central Station at 0900 hrs and will board a train to Haltwhistle.

The cost of the return rail ticket, a tour of the Old Booking Hall (complete with Edmondson ticket racks) and a cup of coffee are included in the price. Attendees will return from Haltwhistle station to Newcastle and will arrive in Newcastle at 1715 hrs.

The guided walk include:

  • a small part of the South Tyne Trail with historic bridges (the South Tyne Trail was formerly the railway line to Alston)

  • Haltwhistle Burn with multiple railway and mill and colliery remains

  • Will check out the Titanic connection!

Please note:

This is a full day, approximately 6 miles and is not suitable for people with limited mobility. There will be some difficulty surfaces. Wear stout shoes/boots – the terrain may be muddy.

You are responsible for your own safety throughout and the main road must be crossed with care. Bring a packed lunch or be prepared to buy lunch in a pub.

This event requires a minimum of ten bookings in order to run. The bookings will close on Tuesday 19th March at 1800. If insufficient bookings received, payments will be returned.

Full details of the Heritage Trails conference may be found here
