Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

NOTE: This is a 2-day course and both days will run from 15.30 - 17.30.

Games are everywhere these days: on consoles, TVs, phones, iPads…. & the classroom too! With this session we will explore the possibilities that come with pupils becoming game creators rather than simple consumers.

A multitude of cross-curricular skills are brought together to create a game that can turn any topic into something which is both engaging and captivating. What makes a good game: gameplay, story, art style & challenges. How do you go about making curriculum links, capturing your ideas, planning your game, creating your game & testing that it works?

We will go through some practical exercises, creating a series of games, both basic and more advanced, using the Sketch Nation App. We will explore the range of game genres that can be utilised to augment pupils’ learning experiences and outcomes. We will also explore how creating games, linked to existing WAU topics, can bring added value to pupils' learning.

Curriculum Links

  • WAU - Place, Change Over Time, Interdependence
  • The Arts
  • Language & Literacy
  • UICT - Film & Animation, DTP
