Join local wildlife guides Wild Intrigue for a family-friendly, wild night out in Gateshead Riverside Park.
On this guided exploration of the woodland we'll tune into our nocturnal senses to look and listen for signs of wildlife which emerge at dusk. The safari will include an introduction to British and local bats - including the bizarre behaviours and amazing anatomy of these mammals. We will explore Riverside Park with acoustic bat detectors in hand, to eavesdrop on bats as they forage and socialise above the woodland's leafy canopy and along the riverside.
The wildlife we encounter will be recorded as part of ongoing monitoring of the natural environment along the Tyne Derwent Way.
Meeting point: Meet outside The Staith's Cafe (https://what3words.com/bridge.clip.helps)
Route: After meeting outside The Staith's Cafe, we will walk along Autumn Drive to enter and walk through the woodland, before emerging onto riverbank footpath where we will walk back to end near the cafe.
