About this event

Science & Tech • Other

In this one day taster session, you’ll learn how to use Twine to create your own interactive text-based games — no coding experience required! If you’re interested in making games, narrative design and storytelling, Twine is a great place to start.

We’ll support you to develop whatever game idea you dream up. A murder mystery in a Gothic mansion? An exploration adventure in a mystical land? A sword and sorcery RPG? We’ll give you the tools to create it!

During the workshop you’ll learn how to use the software, develop an idea for a text-based game, and start making a prototype. Twine is free and open source, so after the session you can continue working on your game at home if you want to.

Led by Lauren O’Donoghue, a writer, PhD candidate and game designer. She has developed text games for clients including Heart’s Choice Games, Leeds Trinity University and Barnsley Museums. Her Twine game Eikas placed 5th in the 30th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition.
