Event Details

This is a two day course for employees and businesses.

What will I learn?

Our MHFA course is a two day internationally recognised mental health awareness course.

By the end of the course you'll be able to:

  • Spot the early signs of a mental health issue
  • Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health issue
  • Provide help on a first aid basis
  • Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
  • Help stop a mental health issue from getting worse
  • Help someone recover faster
  • Guide someone towards the right support
  • Reduce the stigma of mental health issues.

The course is divided into four sections:

  • What is mental health?
  • Suicide and depression
  • Anxiety, eating disorders, and self harm
  • Psychosis

How will I learn?

The session will be a mix of presentations, group interaction and activities. Our instructors provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, then there is no pressure to.

Due to some of the sensitive subjects of our courses, we limit our course numbers. We want everyone to feel safe and our instructors can help if people find some parts particularly difficult.

You'll receive a MHFA manual that you can take away with you at the end of the session and an attendance certificate from MHFA England.

Getting to the Venue

The nearest train station to Field Place is Durrington rail and is a 10 minute walk to the venue. The Pulse is a bus service which runs regularly nearby. There is free car parking on site and disabled spaces.

Welcome to West Sussex Mind

We are an independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.

We aim to promote good mental health through the provision of high quality services and through campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and understanding.

Our services support young people, adults, older adults, carers and families affected by mental health problems. We offer help and advice to people around improving their physical and mental well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and confidence, building strong relationships with family, friends and communities, getting into education, training and work and achieving their personal and social goals.

We also work actively in local communities to raise awareness about mental health and tackle the stigma and discrimination.
