Derek Nash needs no introduction but in case you don't know; he is an established UK saxophonist who has been at the forefront of British Jazz for the past 30 years, playing with the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Ronnie Scott's Blues Explosion, and his award-winning group Sax Appeal.

SO YOU HAVE MEMORISED A BLUES SCALE AND IMPROVISED OVER SOME TUNES... NOW WHAT?

In this workshop, Derek will help to take your improvisation to the next level. You may have overheard jazz cats talking about two-five-whatsits, chord substitutions, or other similarly daunting technical lingo. Take a guided tour through some basic jazz harmony and learn to recognise the II-V-I sequence which litters jazz in order to craft more interesting solos. If you've been noodling around on your instrument for a while, this is a logical next step to better understand the mystical art of improvising.
