About this event

Join us at the Hunterian Art Gallery for a unique, artist-led portrait studio celebrating the people and communities around us.

Individuals, families and groups are invited to sit for two frames of black and white 35mm film taken by Margaret Salmon, the artist behind our current contemporary art exhibition, ‘Assembly’. The sessions will take place in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The portrait studio is an on-going project marking Salmon's interest in the role of the portrait photographer in society, celebrating the potential of photography within intimate and public memory.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to take part in a creative project and receive beautifully captured images of you and your loved ones — portraits to treasure for years to come.

Portraits will be shared with those photographed after the event, free of charge.

When booking, please note that only one ticket is required per group.

At the heart of the University of Glasgow since 1807, The Hunterian connects people with stories, individuals and ideas found in stunning collections of objects, belongings and artworks.

Today The Hunterian is a space for questioning and experimentation, for enjoyment and enrichment, for connection and collaboration and for reflecting on the role museums and individuals can play in furthering equity, justice and diversity in our society.

We actively work to make The Hunterian a more relevant and meaningful place – for University students and staff, for Glaswegians, for Scots and for our global visitors.
