Hosted by Kingston Museum and the Stanley Picker Gallery, Another Land aims to showcase experimental visualisations of place in art and design research. In this workshop Maxine Beuret explores the visualisation of place using design history, photography, oral history and environmental sound. She will investigate how very specific information regarding milk delivery contracts to a more general anonymous depiction of a round. Does detailed information encourage communication or does a more open representation leave space for viewers thoughts and memories to surface?

Biography

Maxine Beuret's research is based on the representation of a number of working dairies in England, with a focus on their door-step milk delivery service with electric milk floats. An important part of this research is to encourage people to add their thoughts and memories. Her practice depicts cultural heritage in the present with a focus on design history in the everyday, working on themed projects in partnership with local communities and heritage professionals.
