Description

Join us for a family-friendly type 1 diabetes support event for those already using insulin pumps. This Type 1 Discovery Day Edinburgh – Insulin Pump Master Class will feature:

  • JDRF on current type 1 diabetes research and latest treatments.
  • Dr Name and Title TBC, Liz McKay (Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Western General Hospital) sharing the latest ideas on getting the most from your pump
  • Susan Fletcher (Senior Territory Manager, Medtronic ) and Lynne Marshall (Diabetes Healthcare Professional, Medtronic) what your pump can do that you may not be using.

An audience group discussion in tables will then follow. We know that there will be lots of hints and tips to be shared on pump best practice in the audience. FAQs

Q. Who is this event for?

A. This Discovery Day is for people and their families who are currently using an insulin pump rather than injections.

Q. Is this an event for children?

A. Absolutely if they will be interested in the event. We are very happy for you to bring quiet entertainment for them (iPad and headphones) in case they don’t last the full 2 1/2 hours!

Q. Is there separate entertainment for children?

A. No, not at this Discovery Day. If you have a child who is too young to be interested in the speakers there will be space for you to take them out of the room when they get bored.

Q. I’m not using a Medtronic pump, is this event still relevant for me?

A. Most pumps have similar functions, which may have slightly different names. Given this we envisage the Medtronic session will still be useful for those with other makes of pumps.

Q. How big will the event be?

A. There are 60 tickets and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Q. What are the seating arrangements?

A. You will be sat on tables of 8 to share your experience and pump know how with other attendees.

Edinburgh Waverley Station – 6-minute walk

Edinburgh Bus Station – 16-minute walk
