BankerWessel is an award-winning graphic design studio based in Stockholm. It is the ongoing collaboration between illustrator Jonas Banker and graphic designer Ida Wessel. Their partnership, stretching over two decades, has resulted in, design work set aside, both marriage and three kids.
The studio, now joined by two more designers, serves world-renowned museums, artists, and photographers with identities, publications, and exhibition graphics. With Scandinavian design as a point of departure, their approach is international with clients based in Germany, the UK, the USA and Japan.
Bold graphics, illustration, custom made type, and the demonstration of a profound love for craftsmanship are trademarks of the studio's work. With an insatiable curiosity, they push the limits with an ambition to stay comprehensible, playful and to the point.
In 2019 BankerWessel published Process: Visual Journeys in Graphic Design (Counter-Print) to visualise their creative process. The book features nearly 1500 annotated sketches of 12 of their logotype projects. The book aims to show all the impulses, divergence, subjectivity, transitions, blind alleys and imperfections present in creative work — all uncensored. The book was awarded »Best Book Design of the Year» in Sweden 2020.
