U Belong Glasgow is a multilingual community platform that features BPOC, LGBT+ and disabled creatives, and amplifies their music, poetry, art, photography, and comedy.

U Belong always takes the initiative to feature other organisations and creative platforms at the beginning of every event. There will be a different host each month, and the event will run as the host plans it.

Each host has the space and freedom to facilitate the events as they see best, and there are 15 performance slots every month. This is a community that uplifts, and advocates for wellness, compassion, and solidarity, and you belong here.

U Belong is run by Esraa Husain (pronouns indifferent), a nonbinary creative writer, poet, translator and an academic. They are conducting a PhD research in Scottish African writing, agency, migrancy and postcolonial context at the University of Glasgow. Their fiction and nonfiction writings, and photography have been featured in Gutter Magazine, Kohl Journal, Causeway/Cabhsair Magazine and Sapphic Writers Collective amongst others. They are the founder of U Belong Glasgow, and are keen on performing their poetry in spoken word events.

This event is for ages 18+ and will be held online. You will need a good internet connection and a laptop/computer/mobile device to join us.

There will be 100 attendees maximum, and the event will feature comfort breaks. There will be up to 15 performers who will be: Reading out loud, Sharing work that has been created (Film clips, Visual presentations, Sound/music, performances). Attendees who are not performing are not expected to participate.

If you have any specific access requirements please indicate when reserving a ticket and we will do our best to meet any requests within our limited budget. We are more able to meet requests made at least two weeks in advance. Events may be recorded for access reasons.

After purchasing of a ticket, you will be sent several reminder emails from Eventbrite. Each will contain a link/button that says 'Online Event Page' or ‘Access Event’, or similar.
