UCAN 2 Training
Overview
UCAN2 is an individual intervention which breaks down early number skills into small steps using a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach (3 sessions per week).
This course is aimed at school staff working with children and young people in Years 2 to 7 with severe and persistent number difficulties. The intervention targets Reception to Year 3 number objectives and focuses on counting, place value, addition and subtraction.
The training will include:
Þ How to use the UCAN2 number assessment to identify gaps and plan teaching targets.
Þ How to use the UCAN2 intervention resource to provide a structured small-steps approach.
Þ Modelling of strategies and resources and opportunities to practise through practical activities.
Þ A comprehensive set of resources sent electronically.
