Description

Registrations close: Sunday 28th October 2018

EIB Admissions are proud to welcome all students, parents and educators to a unique university 'open day' specifically designed for students looking to apply to UK universities in the 2019 and 2020 UCAS cycles.

Every year, universities come to schools providing information about their programmes of study, their ethos, accommodation, fees, and much more. As the representatives are all admissions officers from the universities, it can prove difficult for students to get a truly neutral perspective, and parents are often not involved in these preliminary conversations. Every year we support students from around the world with their university applications to UK universities, and have come to realise that a lack of information is often the root cause of poor applications, or worse, being unhappy at the university you choose. To this end, we have put together our very own university fair, where student and their families can attend seminars on all stages of the UCAS application process, as well as take advantage of the opportunity to speak one-to-one with graduates from universities across the UK- all former IB students who remember the process well!

The UCAS process, and university selection more widely, can be a very stressful time for students of any programme, but when considered in tandem with the heavy workload of the IB2 year, many IB students struggle to balance their time and energy. We therefore advise IB students to start looking into their university choices in the spring of their first year of the IB- with enough time to consider the different types of universities, how to make the right choices in terms of your selection, and work on personal statements, this is the perfect opportunity to get a head start on the application process and make plans for the upcoming year.

MORNING

The morning will consist of seminars looking at the different stages of university applications and the selection process

1.) The UCAS process - What you need to know

Learn about the key dates, how the application process works, and what you can expect depending on the type of degree(s) and institutions you are applying for.

2.) Making your University Application Choices

Hear from IB graduates who went on to study at UK universities about their university experiences at very different types of universities - everything from London vs. non-London universities and choosing between campus and city universities. Find out about how you can be clever and find the absolute best universities that match your predicted grades, as well as your interests both inside and out of the classroom.

3.) UK Universities and the IB: Report by EIB Admissions

EIB Consulting are proud to have put together an extensive series of reports for IB students applying to UK universities, based on university-issued statistics. Be one of the first to take advantage of this exciting information and our findings.

4.) Oxbridge: What you need to know when applying for Oxford or Cambridge

Hear from our Oxford and Cambridge advisors on what you need to know as you prepare to apply for Oxbridge. Everything from what they look for in applicants to more logistical aspects of the application process and the interviews will be covered, with time for questions from students and parents at the end of the seminar, to ensure personalised as well as overall guidance is provided.

AFTERNOON

After the final seminar, the afternoon will present an opportunity to speak with the graduates of a variety of UK universities, to find out about their experience first-hand, from their chosen degree, to halls of residence, extracurricular activities, module selections, and much much more. The team present on the day will be a mix of EIB team members and EIB Ambassadors, representing students and alumni at universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, King’s College London, Imperial, and Nottingham, amongst many others. The consultants will remain available until 13:00 when the UCAS Day will come to a close.

Feedback from previous Elite IB UCAS Days:

"Thank you for organizing this wonderful workshop. We all found it interesting and informative and the two boys were very happy for the chance to talk to graduates who could answer their questions first-hand." - Parent of first-year IB student.
