UPDATE

We have decided to postpone this July’s festival due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis and have rescheduled it for October 23 to 25 with virtually the same line up apart from the Sunday afternoon session which will depend on what we may be able to move indoors.
There is of course a serious doubt that, even in October, it will be feasible and safe to put the festival on and in this event we hope to offer the same line up for the 2021 festival. The position will be reviewed in August based on the government guidance at that time.
There are a number of people who have already booked tickets for this July and these will still be valid for October. However if anyone requires a refund at this stage please let us know.
Any tickets booked between now and October will be eligible for full refunds should the festival be cancelled altogether.

Welcome to our festival website and before adding to everyone’s subdued feelings let’s all think positive and believe that we shall be enjoying the 8th Uckfield Blues & Roots Festival at the end of July.

We are currently living in very strange times, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis with all theatres and entertainment venues closed along with pretty much everything else which we all understand is absolutely essential. However we have taken the decision not to cancel our festival but will continue to monitor the situation bearing in mind all government guidelines. There is also a possibility that we could postpone the festival to to a later date, most likely to be October 23 to 25.

There are of course many other factors to bear in mind such as the continued support of our sponsors some of whom will no doubt be suffering financially.

Rest assured we will only go ahead if it is safe to do so, based on all of the government’s advice.

Tickets are now on sale but only through this website. In the event that the festival is postponed to October 2020 all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

Please do bear in mind that we absorb all booking fees and that all tickets will be fully refunded should cancellation of the festival be unavoidable.

Our ticket prices are based on the cost it takes to put the festival on, even with the benefit of our wonderful sponsors, and we sincerely hope that you agree that our festival delivers value for money.

Please remember that our weekender tickets guarantee entry to all festival events including Sunday evening. The only certain way of guaranteeing entry to the Sunday evening is to buy a weekender ticket.

Individual tickets for the Sunday evening ( if any ) will only be made available a week before the event as Sponsors and holders of weekender tickets take priority.

The festival format will be exactly as in recent years with Friday and Saturday evenings 7.30 to 11.15 approx.

set out cabaret style in the Weald Hall of Uckfield Civic Centre. On Sunday the action moves to The Highlands Inn with a free afternoon session outside in the grounds of the pub. On Sunday evening the restaurant is given over to the festival and entry is by ticket only. Please note that if you want to be certain of attending the Sunday evening you will need to buy a weekender ticket ( see above ).

This year we are delighted to welcome lots of new faces to Uckfield, including the Elles Bailey Band, The Achievers and The Cinelli Brothers all of whom feature in the 2020 UK Blues Federations top five nominations for best band. The best band category also includes Catfish who just happen to be our headline act for Saturday – these guys have deservedly achieved massive success in the last few years with the outstanding Matt Long ( already a legend at such a young age ! ) also nominated as best young musician.

Friday night includes two other newcomers to Uckfield in the form of the Brighton based Mike Ross Band and Paul Lamb and The Kingsnakes. Paul Lamb has achieved legendary status as one of the world’s finest harmonica players and we are delighted that he and his sensational band are able to join us.

Sunday afternoon sees a feast of talent featuring Sam Brothers, King Size Slim, The Steve Watts Trio with Alice Armstrong. Fran McGillivary & Mike Burke and The Joel White Band.

Sunday evening features The Long Runners ( ft. Eddie Armer ), The Blues and Grooves Band and headlining is Oliver Darling. Oliver Darling may be a new name to some of you but rest assured he is an amazing young musician who has toured with Mike Sanchez and more recently Imelda May – he will be performing a solo set of some old and not so old classic blues numbers and will then be rocking it up with The Blues and Grooves guys to end the evening. The Blues and Grooves Band is in effect three quarters of the old Southern Nights band who many of you know very well.

As always we are indebted to our sponsors for their continued support and also to the Uckfield Civic Centre

https://www.civiccentreuckfield.com/ and The Highlands Inn https://highlandsinn.co.uk/ for hosting our events.
