We're bringing together academics and industry professionals to collaborate on making games more accessible for everyone!

This event is designed to bridge the gap between academic innovation at UCL and the practical needs of the UK video games industry. With a special focus on the UK accessibility landscape, it will bring together UCL researchers, studio heads, game designers, and advocacy groups to move beyond dialogue and establish tangible, research-to-industry partnerships.

Who it’s for

This event is open to:

  • UCL academics, researchers and doctoral students from any discipline
  • SMEs, start-ups and companies working in gaming
  • Industry experts, advocacy and policy professionals interested in game accessibility

What to expect

Presentations from industry and academics on game accessibility, featuring:

  • Presentations from speakers including: Ian Hamilton, Independent Accessibility Specialist; Mark Friend, Senior Manager, Accessibility & Inclusion, PlayStation; Ben Breen and Jonny Marshall, Game Accessibility Specialists, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB); Joe Kulik, Senior Research and Accessibility Lead, PlaytestCloud; Dr Xiaochun Zhang, Centre for Translation Studies, UCL; and more.
  • Opportunity to learn about the UCL Game Accessibility Innovation Network
  • Networking break and reception

This event is organised by UCL Innovation & Enterprise in collaboration with the UCL CenTraS Game Lab. UCL’s Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) is a leading UK hub for interdisciplinary research in translation, with strengths spanning creative industries, education, technology, and emerging areas such as video game localisation and accessibility.

Entrance is free, but places are limited. Early registration is advised as this event is expected to reach full capacity.
