Event description

Description

We are delighted to welcome Bronwen Percival, cheese buyer for Neal's Yard Dairy and co-founder of MicrobialFoods.org, and Francis Percival, award-winning food and wine writer and co-convenor of The London Gastronomy Seminars who will be delivering our summer lecture based on their book Reinventing the Wheel: Milk, Microbes, and the Fight for Real Cheese, which reveals the surprising truths and science behind the dairy industry.

The lecture will be followed by a wine and cheese reception, during which you can hear quickfire soapbox science talks by UCL academics and The Eden Project; and make your own cheese with artist and materials specialist Ellie Doney.

Science Soapbox speakers include:

Dr Joanne Santini, UCL Structural and Molecular Biology
Prof Mark Thomas, UCL Genetics, Evolution and Environment
Dr Rachel Warmington, Plant Pathologist, Eden Project
Dr Mike Sulu, UCL Engineering
Dr Mike Maunder, Eden Project

Supported by the UCL Grand Challenge of Transformative Technology.
