UCL ISR & UCL Energy Joint Seminar: World Energy Outlook 2016
Tue 7 February 2017, 17:30 – 19:30 GMT
UCL Institue for Sustainable Resources & UCL Energy Institute joint seminar
'World Energy Outlook 2016' by Dr Christophe McGlade
The landmark Paris Agreement on climate change will transform the global energy system for decades to come. The latest World Energy Outlook, the IEA’s annual flagship publication, provides a comprehensive analysis of what this transformation might look like. It reviews the key opportunities and challenges ahead for renewable energy, the central pillar of the low-carbon energy transition, as well as the critical role for energy efficiency. It also explores how oil, natural gas and coal are adjusting to today’s market conditions and assesses the risks that lie ahead, from under-investment in essential supply to stranded assets.
Dr. Christophe McGlade will help shed light on this changing landscape, presenting the main findings of the 2016 edition of the World Energy Outlook.
