Venue: UCL BASE KX

Time: 2pm – 5pm

Who should attend

This workshop is open to all Students and Staff at UCL who want to learn about marketing techniques and finding your ideal customers.

About the workshop

When you are first starting out in business it’s tempting to try and attract all sorts of customers. However, as a small business it’s important to recognize and understand that it’s not efficient or effective to try and market to all businesses. Also, when you are starting out it’s tempting to try and accept business from all enquiries. The issue is however, that some will negotiate hard, some will want something for nothing, some will take up all of your time. This session will go through the stages of choosing ideal customers for your business and give you the confidence to say no to some customers.

What you will get out of it:

  • A set of practical tools and techniques to identifying a specific target audience
  • Learn how to communicate to potential customers by understanding the differences between features, advantages and benefits.
  • Create a set of evaluation criteria to assess what media works best to attract your target audience. Write a feedback loop to assess the success of your marketing activity.
  • Identify good customers and bad customers by understanding the lifetime value of customers.

About the trainer:

Stuart Hartley, Managing Director of Incrementa, is a dynamic, creative and commercially focused business development and marketing specialist with a background in small business innovation and development.
