UCLPartners Involvement Leads Forum - April 2016
Tue 12 April 2016, 13:30 – 16:30 BST
This forum will focus particularly on the grey space between involvement and qualitative research – where participating in a patient or population feedback activity (like a survey or a focus group) might sit somewhere in between research and involvement.
Colleagues across the Involvement Leads network are finding this grey area difficult to deal with and would like to explore and discuss the challenge and how to make that line firmer. One Involvement Lead says “it seems that some people who maybe don't necessarily have much experience or familiarity with qualitative research think that any kind of consulting activity, or checking with parents or patients for some kind of opinion, is involvement but really it is research.”
At this stage we will be joined by:
- Martin Lodemore, Senior Public Involvement Advisor at INVOLVE
- A member of the NHS England Patient Insight team
- Amanda Hunn - Health Research Authority
We are also hoping to have colleagues from qualitative research methods disciplines to aid our discussion.
As we prepare for this, we would really appreciate any questions, challenges or stories of trying to negotiate this to help better prepare. Please get in touch if you have any.
In the meantime if you have any queries please contact our Patient Insight and Involvement Lead, Fiona McKenzie, on email@example.com.
