Unity Does MAATer - Half-Term event

(Limited number of places available, please note that to guarantee a place for this event you have to book a place online).

Our Fun Run & Fitness challenge is UDM’s first children's health event. UDM are throwing down the gauntlet to the young people in Chapeltown. UDM will take part in 9 activities and we want to see which group of young people will beat our scores in 50 mins. Our event is in partnership with Mike from MK Gym.

The nine activities are:-

1. Pull up hold

2. Ski 150m

3. 1K treadmill run

4. Medicine Ball lift

5. Medicine Ball throw

6. Standing long jump

7. Standing high jump

8. Shot Put

9. Shuttle Run x 4

We have places for five groups of four young people between the ages of 5 – 14 years old. Each group will be in MK Gym for 50 mins. You will be given an introduction to the gym, you will need to complete a short activity questionnaire and be given an individual activity sheet. You will complete each of the 9 activities. Your total group scores will be averaged and placed on our spreadsheet and we will see if UDM members including Mike score better than you young people!

The group time slots are with a maximum of five young people starting from 1:30pm, allocated on a first come first served basis.

Venue: MK Gym, Unit 1 Chapeltown Enterprise Centre, Mexborough Grove, Leeds, LS7 3DX

What should your child prepare or bring to this event?

• Completed UDM consent form.
• Completed MK Gym consent form.
• Pack lunch if you want to bring one its only 50 minutes.
• Water bottle.
• Dress comfortably.
• Comfortable pair of trainers is a must.
• Make sure that you arrive 10 minutes before your group starting time.

Our group have been working in the Chapeltown, Leeds community area (Chapel Allerton Ward), since March 2015. We are a community organisation which is managed by members from the local community.

Unity Does MAATer (UDM) is passionate about raising the aspirations of young people of an African/Caribbean background, as they are our future!
